Mike McCauley has led and advised policy, advocacy, and electoral campaigns for over 20 years and in all 46 counties in South Carolina. A mission-oriented federal implementation specialist, Mike has spent his career advocating for and implementing equitable and inclusive policies that improve the health, education, and prosperity of vulnerable populations and communities. A writer and lawyer by training, Mike has an uncanny ability to synthesize complex programs and procedures and distill them into digestible and actionable strategies. A graduate of The Citadel and the Charleston School of Law’s inaugural graduating class, Mike is a former member of the federal government’s Senior Executive Service with extensive experiences navigating government bureaucracies. He served as White House Liaison at the U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Services (HHS) during the passage and initial implementation of the Affordable Care Act, and later served as Chief of Staff of HHS’s Administration for Children & Families, a $62 billion agency administering over 60 federal programs administering formula and competitive grants at state, local, and tribal levels.
